A New Look, Pink Plates And An Eden

Good Morning~

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Mine was busy (what else is new??). One reason is that I changed the look of my blog. I don;t know about all of you , but I get bored with things easily. Maybe that is why I love the blog world and decorating so much. There are always new ideas and inspirations. I have been doing the blog since last July (time is flying by) and I felt I really needed a change. The pictures encompass things  that I love, vintage plates, chandeliers and flowers. What do you think??
I am sure this isn't the last change you will see;)
On another note, my 8 year old daughter will be turning 9 in March (yikes) and she has requested a room redo. Mmmm.... I wonder where she gets that from????Anyway, I have agreed. One decorating element that she wants to eliminate is anything that is Light Pink. This makes me a bit sad.... she is growing up too fast. The one good thing is that I get to have all the beautiful vintage pink plates she has had on her wall.

I love this little stack. I used Picnik to soften up this picture

Every now and again I love to have a little pop of pink in the house. I think it goes so nicely with all my blues and whites.

I never realized how much I loved these until they came off of Avery's walls. The room redo is becoming a win for me too;)
Ok, just one more... I promise ........

This weekend I also got inspired to finish pruning all my roses. This is a huge job. I have ALOT of roses. As I was trimming my Eden Climber I noticed in between some of the leaves and hidden between some branches that were not looking good, there was a single Eden rose in the middle of it all. I was shocked to see it. It was my gift of the day;)

I love to use other things other than actual vases to put my flowers in. This time I used one of my emptied Lorina Pink Lemonade Bottles. This is one is the small size. They are perfect for a single flower.

How sweet is this little rose????

I hope you all find a gift this week too.

As always, thanks for all of you sweet and inspiring comments. They are so appreciated.
Welcome to all my new followers!!

From One Blog To Another

Hi~~

I want to thank Lisa at

for giving me this award

She awarded this here blog with the Liebster Award.

Liebster is German and means 'dearest' or 'beloved' but it can also mean 'favorite'. The idea of the Liebster award is to bring attention to blogs with less than 200 followers. So, in the spirit of good fun I am passing this award on to 5 other bloggers.
Please click over and visit them. Then decide if they may be one of your new favorite blogs!

The RULES are:
  1. Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
  2. Reveal your five picks for the award and let them know.
  3. Post the award on your blog.
  4. Bask in the love from the most supportive people on the blogshare-other bloggers.
  5. Finally and the best rule of all.......have fun and spread the love!
It's now my turn to pass the award along. And the Liebster goes to.....in No Particular Order!!!

It's Valentines Day In The Shop

Hi~~
I hope you are all enjoying a relaxing weekend with family and friends. We actually had  some rain here in Southern California (thank goodness).. My flowers were in desperate need. And I have to say, doesn't the air feel so clean after a nice rain???
Are you ready for Valentine's Day?? We have many new items in our Etsy Shop  Here are a few......

I love these~~ Set of four Conversation Jars made with chalkboard paint. Aren't they cute to put goodies in????

I like them for place settings too. One set is tied with pink ribbons and the other with red.

and...................
They come with this cute chalk:)

GrainSack Heart Door Hangers. The X and O are vintage Scrabble tiles
This one is hanging on my front door. Love the raw edges. This one is backed with red linen.
How about bringing your honey breakfast in bed??
It pops up to make it easy for reading your latest Romantic Homes Magazine.
This banner is made with vintage handkerchiefs. It is 9 feet long. I think we all would like to keep this one for ourselves.

Aren't the flowers so sweet?? Loving the color combination
Another grain sack heart, but this one also has a heart filled with lavender attached to it. The backing on this one is red and white toile.

I hope you all have a great week and hope you'll stop by my Etsy Shop . We are getting new items (not only Valentines Day) daily so keep checking.
I'll be out of commission for a couple days... going to visit my parents.

xo,
Cheryl
~~Thank god the New England Patriots won today...my son is one VERY HAPPY CHILD~
Can anyone else relate to this???

Dried Roses

Good Morning~~
This is going to be a quick little post, but I have to show some pics of my dried roses. There is something about dried roses  that are so beautiful to me. Depending on how they end up drying, I think they are almost prettier than when they are alive. These little pink beauties dried perfect and they are still in the water. They are part of the $5.99 bunch I bought from Trader Joes a couple of weeks ago....
Aren't they gorgeous??????
I have them in a milk glass that I bought at Anthropologie.
I love that they actually dried in the water. No hanging them upside down or anything..... EASY!! These were the spray roses so they were more petite than other roses. Maybe this made the drying  process so easy and perfect????

I hope you all have a wonderful day ..........
What did you see that was beautiful today???????

A Calming Place

Hi~~
I hope you are all enjoying the holiday. I decided to put off my usual Sunday chores and do them today. I needed a break from laundry and more laundry so I thought it would be the perfect time for a post about something calming:)
I don't know about all of you, but I love my room. Sadly, I don't get to spend as much time there as I would like, but when I do, I take a deep breath and chill out. I need to remember to do this more often. My room houses a few of my FAVORITE things.
I LOVE this old, chippy blue shutter. And yes, it does sit kind of crooked. I only have one.. I so wish I had two of them. I always feel like it needs to be somewhere in the house where more people can enjoy it too. I haven't found the right space so for now...it's all mine:)
As you may know from many of my posts, I love shells too and I think these look so pretty with the blue shutter in the background.
This piece of furniture is so unique. I love the two drawers at the top. That was the selling point for this piece. The mirror above it is from The Rose Bowl Flea Market. I tried to take a picture without the bed in it, but no can do. My room isn't large.

This is my giant picture wall that I face if I am in my bed. It has so many favorite pictures of my kids and family. They are the first and last things I see each day:)
You may notice the little string that looks like it is coming from the ceiling. Well, that is part of a little TV. It doesn't look pretty, but I have to let the hubby have something. BTW~~ He wants to mount a BIG one to the wall.....my picture wall will be ruined:(( Stay tuned as to what happens. Yikes !
My "sitting " area. I got these two blue chippy chairs and this little table at the RB Flea Market. The chairs were originally bought to go outside, but I loved them too much and wanted to be able to see them all the time. So..here they are.
The print above is special to me!! I bought this print when I was in college and had it in my room. That was a LONG time ago....... It is a picture of France. I love the bike on the front (I like pictures with bikes). I have taken this  print to all the places I have lived and now it is right above my bed and I guess is sort of the head board since I don't have one.
It's certainly not in the best frame (not even glass) , but it is exactly the way it has been for many many years and I don't want anything to change about it. My best friend since I was four (Susie) has the same one in her house.
Anyway, I hope you all have a calm space in your home where you can take a deep breath. We all need to remember to that.
I want to welcome all my new followers and thank everyone for the always nice comments. Doing this blog is another thing that calms me and lets me express myself.

To Be A Kid Again~

Happy Thursday~
This post is sort of random, but I just love my daughter's adorable chalk art. Why you ask??? I just makes me Smile:)
So I thought I would share with you all.
She tells me this is her self portrait...........Mmmmm......
For all of you who have seen pics of my daughter, you know she  has dark brown hair and brown eyes.
Maybe the chalk should start coming with brown as an option for the non-blonds of the world.
Or maybe she just WANTS to be a blond. Again I have to Smile
Here is the bottom portion of the drawing. One leg isnt done...maybe it never will be. She had fun and I had fun watching her draw so proudly with chalk all over her body, laying on the dirty driveway. The innocence and free spirit of children is priceless.
What made you smile today??????

A Little For Me

Hi Everyone~
So..... I don't know about all of you, but while I spent MANY hours and days buying Christmas presents for everyone, I picked up a few goodies for myself.  There are just too many treasures lurking around that are too great to pass up.Here are a few of the fantastic things I found........

How cute is this creamy buttery colored clock?? Yummy. It is sitting on a this beautiful floral fabric colored box. The colors are so creamy and muted...perfect for the Fresh Vanilla House:)

These were both purchased on Etsy at French Farmhouse 425
They are the perfect addition to my newly styled mantle for 2012.
I found this French Enamelware House Number at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. It will fit in great with all the blue and white decor. Still looking for the perfect spot.
This cute French mustard jar was purchased on Etsy from Faded Plains . I love the creamy color and the blue writing.

It now sits on my vintage desk in the entry way next to this rusty old urn with dried hydrangeas. I love hydrangeas when they are dried. Lucky for me my mom grows them so there is always an abundance to choose from.

This pretty French plate comes from Dreamy Whites. I actually have two and they are permanently at my dining room table. I love the way they look on this grain sack table runner.Yes, there is more...
This French Apothecary Jar was also found on my trip to The Rose Bowl. loving the label and the shape of the jar.

Ok, this was actually a Christmas present from my husband. Have you ever smelt these candles??? This one is Voluspa~ Belle Sucre from Anthropologie.
Don't you just love the design on the jar?? Depending on the lighting it can be really pale pink or look like this picture. Pure Heaven......
And last, but not least, I treated myself to these pinky roses from Trader Joes on Sunday. Only $5.99 and there were a few more that I put in another vase, Can't beat that:))
 I mean seriously...$5.99?????
Did you treat yourself to any treasures this season or what special things were you treated to???
~Welcome to all my new followers and thanks to everyone for your sweet comments~

On one other note~ For all of you who read my post about my Mom, I want you all to know that without the constant love, care and encouragement that my Pop (step dad) gave my Mom this year and every year, the positive turn it took would not have been possible. THANK YOU AND LOVE YOU:)))
