Sunshine and Roses

Happy Sunday~

Theres something so beautiful about the bright sunshine shining through the windows. I especially love it when it happens in my living room. For most of the day, it is quite dark in there ( I don't like that at all) so when the afternoon comes, I know my space will look pretty again.
The sun comes through the front window. The windows on my South facing windows have trees in front of  them so there is no chance for too much light to come through.

This is one of my new mirrors that I got for the living room. It is hard to tell in this picture, but it is beveled glass (LOVE). When I got it, it was black and gold so I painted it Benjamin Moore, Horizon Gray. Of course, I forgot to take a "before" picture:( Oops! The other new mirror I got you can see in the previous picture. It is the little cream one. I used to have two small cabinets that flanked my window. I am so happy with the mirrors.
As you all know by now, I can't resist pictures of flowers, especially roses. I have cut so......many roses in the past week it is unbelievable. I have bouquets everywhere in my home. (photos to come in a later post). Today I wanted to show you this rose. It is called the "Princess Diana Rose" and it has creamy middle with  the slightest blush pink on the edges. It is so perfect for cutting too:))

Thank you all for taking the time to stop by my blog:)  I love hearing  from you.

Have a fantastic week.

Happy Wednesday

Happy Wednesday~~

I hope your  week is going well. Thought I would share this pic with you. One of my favorites that I have taken. I have altered it with Picnik.
This is the picture in its regular format. I got this cute little vase from my husband's great grandma (Little Nonnie) It is perfect for fresh cut flowers.
This one has the "Matte Finish" Love the soft edges...
This one is the "Gritty Finish". At first I wasn't sure I liked this, but now I LOVE it. I may make a print of it.

What do you think???

Enjoy the rest of your week

Hello Again and a Reveal......

Good Morning~~

Wow, it  sure feels  like forever since I have done a post.  Two weeks ago we had Spring Break and we were gone a lot of the time (pics to come another time). I took that week to relax and try and be as "computer free" as possible. Between computers, iphones, ipads etc. it is truly amazing how much time we spend caught up in the cyber world. Needless to say, the break was a good one. I felt better (physically and mentally) that week than I have in quite some time. Then school started up again with a bang. I realize how excited I am for summer to begin:)) How about all of you????? No real agenda sounds absolutely heavenly!!
On one other note, my mom is now home....she still has a road of recovery ahead of her, but at least she is in her own home:)) Thank God....... Thanks to all of you for the sweet messages regarding her.
Now for the REVEAL....remember my brown wood china cabinet????? Well, I am thrilled to report that it is no longer brown. After 15 years of looking at it and wanting it to be painted, it FINALLY happened. What took me so...long?????
Here it is now....
What do you think?????
I altered the picture using the Matte finish on Picnik. I am going to utilize that website as much as humanly possible until it closes on the 19th... So sad.
Here is the hutch without the Picnik alteration..
This is a "Before" picture..
Considering my house is pretty much all blue, white and cream, this stood out... and not in a good way. It is such a solid piece and I like the size, and shelving , I just didn't like the wood.
During the transformation.....
I wish I could say I did the transformation, but the truth is... I am not patient enough for a big piece like this. My daughter's room was getting redone and the fabulous painter, Sheila who did her room and specializes in furniture transformation took on the job. Thank you Sheila:))

Love how all my pretty blues look in the cabinet now

It still amazes me that this transformation took so.. long to start. It was worth the wait and I love being in my dining room now. Added bonus, the room looks so much larger.

I hope you all have a wonderful week. We have sunny skies in the forecast and I am looking forward to spending some time in the garden (favorite place) this week.

Welcome to all my new followers and thanks again to all of you for the sweet comments. I read each and every one of them. You make my day:)

Spring Break, New Blooms and Happy Easter

Happy Monday~~

We have started Spring Break here in my house and my goodness it came at the perfect time. As I mentioned in my last, kind of dreary post, things here had been a bit up and down. Well, I am happy to say that we seem to be on a good roll. The kids and I visited my parents down in Orange County yesterday. We went to see my mom who is working very hard to get her strength back in her knee so she can move ahead with her life. She was in good spirits and we were so happy to see her. She is amazing~~~~~ I am feeling MUCH better, all tests came back negative and it turns out that the EAR can really mess you up!!! Yikes!!! Glad to have figured that out . Got to see Lady Antebellum in concert last week with my college roomie. We had such fun and it didn't hurt to have really good seats and a driver to and fro:)) Thanks Chris!!!

A couple of years ago I put up this arbor and planted a mini rose vine on it. Well, after two years of NOTHING, this Spring it bloomed...Yippeee!!!!!
No, your not hallucinating, it is tilting a bit backwards....
These are the creamy white mini roses that are all over it:)
Here are a few new blooms around the garden.....
This one sits along the driveway and sometimes gets in the way of the cars. There was a "suggestion" to cut it down.. NO WAY... how sweet is this flower???
Love the purple veins going through this one
The fox gloves are getting bigger and bigger. The hummingbirds love these:)
I have Status ( I think this is the correct name) all around the yard. They are great as bouquet fillers and easy to grow.
Another great filler. Not sure of the name. I call the "purple puffs".
The first "official" cutting rose of the season is almost bloomed.. My very favorite Eden Rose!! Notice the lady bug crawling on it??? Hopefully eating away any unwelcome aphids:)
My daughter Avery and I planted 12 pots on Saturday morning. I think she may have a green thumb. She did a great job with no instruction from me. It is amazing the transformation the yard has when the pots are colorful. Such simple satisfaction. Here are a couple samples from our potting adventure:
Love using iron urns

I hope you all have a wonderful week and a very Happy Easter

Thanks for all the sweet comments and welcome to all my new followers. I truly appreciate each and every one of you.
Coming up next week some transformation reveals.............
