The Little Things.....

Hi~
I hope you are all enjoying this week so far. The sun is shining bright here and the skies are blue. It's little things like the sun and sky that we take for granted, but we should be enjoying so much more. Did anyone see the spectacular moon last night? Truly stunning.  I am also getting really excited as I see the little leaf buds showing up on all my roses. I even tried planting sweet pea seeds this year in a pot. Guess what?? They are growing! I can't wait to smell them...heavenly:)
Our chalkboard in the kitchen is a reminder this week of the little things. I try to change the saying every couple weeks.
How cute is this little urn? Dried hydrangeas from my mom:)
Loving the sweet smell of this candle from Anthropologie!! These candles come in several scents and they are all heavenly. Also, when the candle is done, you have a cute crock to fill with goodies.
Thanks to friends for the delicious lemons.
My new pillow, courtesy of Melinda at Alabaster Rose Designs. She made one of these for herself and I loved it, so I asked her if she could make one for me. Well, here it is! I love it. And the best part... Melinda lives close to my mom so I picked it up at Melinda's home and finally got to meet her in person. She is so...sweet and her home is even more gorgeous than in photos. Hard to believe huh? Thanks again Melinda!!!!
I looks perfect!!!!

So, these are a few of my little things to love and appreciate. When you think about it, the little things are what make everything so much more beautiful.

Enjoy your week

Pretty Pink Ombre Cake

Good Afternoon~

How's it going???
This weekend we had the whole family in town for our grandmother's ( Little Nonnie) funeral and festivities. She lived to be 98 years old!! What a wonderful, full life she had and leaves so much of her wisdom behind. It was a special weekend;)
Anyway, my sister in law Michele and her girls stayed at our house for the weekend..always so much fun. You may know Michele because of her blog Summersoul and Etsy shop
Well, look what she brought us for a hostess gift.......
Are you kidding me?? This cake was magnificent!!!! I will warn you I have many pics to share, but as I discovered I am impaired at taking good cake photos. Are you drooling yet??
Big heart made with sprinkles in the center and sprinkles all around the cake. Yep, thats cream cheese frosting... Heavenly....
This is before we cut into it
Loving the special personalized banner. I now have this in my kitchen

When we cut open the cake I almost died... I mean I am a total box cake girl. This type of cake is WAY BEYOND ME...... This takes baking talent.
I like the way this photo focused in on the pink and white straw
We took lots of pics, but I couldn't wait to take a bite. So... let me tell you, this was not only a fantastic looking cake, but was so delicious too! I now have it in the fridge and I keep walking by , sticking a fork in and taking a bite! Nothing better than cold cake!!
I used Picmonkey to do all my photo editing this time. Really liking this last picture.
Thanks again to Michele!! Love you!

I hope you all have a great week filled with lots of sweets, love and smiles:)

BTW~ My business partner, Kelly just started a new blog called
My Soulful Home. ( yep, same name as the Etsy shop). Go check it out, she is a great writer!
