Good Morning~~
Wow, it sure feels like forever since I have done a post. Two weeks ago we had Spring Break and we were gone a lot of the time (pics to come another time). I took that week to relax and try and be as "computer free" as possible. Between computers, iphones, ipads etc. it is truly amazing how much time we spend caught up in the cyber world. Needless to say, the break was a good one. I felt better (physically and mentally) that week than I have in quite some time. Then school started up again with a bang. I realize how excited I am for summer to begin:)) How about all of you????? No real agenda sounds absolutely heavenly!!
On one other note, my mom is now home....she still has a road of recovery ahead of her, but at least she is in her own home:)) Thank God....... Thanks to all of you for the sweet messages regarding her.
Now for the REVEAL....remember my brown wood china cabinet????? Well, I am thrilled to report that it is no longer brown. After 15 years of looking at it and wanting it to be painted, it FINALLY happened. What took me so...long?????
Here it is now....
What do you think?????
I altered the picture using the Matte finish on Picnik. I am going to utilize that website as much as humanly possible until it closes on the 19th... So sad.
Here is the hutch without the Picnik alteration..
This is a "Before" picture..
Considering my house is pretty much all blue, white and cream, this stood out... and not in a good way. It is such a solid piece and I like the size, and shelving , I just didn't like the wood.
During the transformation.....
I wish I could say I did the transformation, but the truth is... I am not patient enough for a big piece like this. My daughter's room was getting redone and the fabulous painter, Sheila who did her room and specializes in furniture transformation took on the job. Thank you Sheila:))
Love how all my pretty blues look in the cabinet now
It still amazes me that this transformation took so.. long to start. It was worth the wait and I love being in my dining room now. Added bonus, the room looks so much larger.
I hope you all have a wonderful week. We have sunny skies in the forecast and I am looking forward to spending some time in the garden (favorite place) this week.
Welcome to all my new followers and thanks again to all of you for the sweet comments. I read each and every one of them. You make my day:)

That is absolutely gorgeous. Oh I would looooove to have a nice china cabinet. SO beautiful. Sheila did an amazing job.
ReplyDeleteI would hire it out too - no way am I good at painting, just sayin.
WELL DONE!!
it looks great...what a difference! kudos to you for hiring someone to do it too, sometimes paint jobs are just too big and tedious tackle when your time as a busy momma is so fleeting! glad to hear that your mom is at home and doing well :)
ReplyDeleteYAY IT'S WHITE :)
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear your Mom is on the mend...continued good health to her. Glad your break was productive - the cabinet ROCKS!!! Happy Tuesday - Tanya
ReplyDeleteOh, that cabinet is lovely. I can't wait for school to get out because I have so many projects I have to put on hold.
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl,
ReplyDeletethis is my first visit to your blog and a very pleasant one, too!
I like it very much here - feels so welcoming and cosy.
Love your cabinet makeover. I'm kind of addicted to white so it looks perfection to me. From what I can see it really blends beautifully with your room decor and makes your blue treasures and glassware stand out. Bravo!
if you have a chance, do come over to my blog. I always have the teapot ready for a nice cup of tea (or maybe a strong italian espresso if you prefer)when friends are visiting.
Looking forward to my next visit

OMGoodness Cheryl, my heart did a flip flop seeing that!! How super amazing and what a transformation!!! I love it!!! I'm going to share on my facebook page. I think there are a ton of china cabinets need to be painted! Including mine of 25 years!! Thanks for linking up on SweetTalkin' Sunday!
ReplyDeleteSuch a very lovely piece of furniture. I would paint it too, but it I would probably hesitate a bit because the wood itself is pretty. I have an easier time painting things that aren't that pretty before. Love it though! Wish I could find something similar to this to paint for my dining room!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog. I am a new follower. I love anything French styled, shabby or vintage. I would love it if you could visit my Something Special blog too!
ReplyDeleteReally so beautiful. Jealous.
