Flowers For Sunday

Good Morning~~
I hope you all have been enjoying your weekend. Sadly, I still don't feel so good so I will again have a brief post so I can lay down before I head off to the grocery store. I would send Chris (The Hubbie) to do this for me,but between the baseball and basketball practices and games for my son today that isn't possible.
Yesterday was Opening Day for Little League here in San Marino. It's a fun day and a kick off to the next few months being devoted to games and practices. Little League is very big in this community. My son is on The Dodgers (yeah) and we are looking forward to a fun filled, hopefully drama free (never know with Little League) season:)
Today I am posting some beautiful flowers that I recently purchased at Trader Joes. As you can tell, this is my go to place to get flowers. Who can beat the fantastic prices and the selection?
Before I put them in the vase, I laid them out on a plate in my dining room.
Each afternoon, the sunlight shines through my dining room and it is so pretty. Love how the roses are so illuminated by the suns rays.
The roses were a perfect creamy color and the pink ones had a hint of gray in them.
I know that I tend to have a lot of flowers in my posts, but I really believe that the natural beauty they have is good for the soul. Well, at least it is good for mine.
This picture was taken after the sun had gone down. Still stunning.

I want to thank a couple of people this week:

Brenda from Cozy Little House for featuring my blog in her Welcome Wagon this week. I have met so many wonderful people since she posted this. She has so many lovely followers.
and
Sandi from A Cottage Muse for hosting a great giveaway. Yes, I won another. I will be receiving the book Pale and Interesting. I am really looking forward to it.

Be sure to check out both of their blogs, you'll be happy you did.

Being sick is a bummer and it has made me realize that a lap top would be a good thing to have. Sitting at a desk on the computer is not fun when all you feel like doing is laying down. Lap top in the future?????? Could be:)

Hope you all have a healthy, relaxing week~~

Vintage Handkerchief Banners

Good Morning~
Hope you are all having a good week. This post will be a short one, I just came down with a yucky cold so I am wanting to lay down and call it a day. But, I couldn't resist showing you all the beautiful handmade banners that we are putting on our Etsy Shop. They are made from vintage handkerchiefs. Love them. I think you will to:)
This is part of the pink one. I photographed them in segments because they are easier to see all the delicate, sweet handkerchiefs better.
Each banner is approx. 9 feet long and they all have 7 handkerchief segments on them. There are ties on the ends for hanging.
The blue and white one.......
More blue and white......

Love how this one has a segment with two overlapping hankies
This one is Purple, Pink, White and Yellow...my personal favorite:))
You see what I mean about photographing these?? They are so delicate the camera doesn't do them justice in capturing their true loveliness

This is the pink and blue banner

They are perfect for your Spring decor, baby showers, nurseries, garden decor, Easter etc. They are one of a kind and I just love them all. I would have loved to have the pink one for my daughter's room when she was small.
The blue and white and pink one are in our Etsy shop- My Soulful Home already. The other two will be added today and tomorrow.

Ok,off to lay down and rest... believe me this is not an easy task for me.

A big thank you to all my new followers and for the nicest notes I have been getting. I am overwhelmed by all the kindness and encouraging words. Thank you:)

A French Ladder and Some Tulips

Happy Sunday~
I hope you are all enjoying the long weekend. Things have been pretty low key here. My husband had to work all weekend so we stayed put here. Kind of a bummer since moist people took off for the long weekend. Luckily my son had some baseball practices and I have been working on getting my daughters room ready for the Big REDO. Today we are headed to my in laws house to see some of the cousins. The kids are so excited. So am I because my sister in law, Kirstin will be there too and we haven't seen them in so ...long:)
Ok, so I have to say that I am a big copycat. A couple of weeks ago I came across this awesome French ladder at a store in La Canada called Julie O'Keefe Home and Garden. I fell in love with it. I wanted it. It had just the right amount of a chippy slate colored blue on it. Perfect for me..right?? But, I REALLY had no clue what to do with it.
Then I remembered...... I had seen a ladder similar to this one in Tracey's home from French Larkspur. She hung grain sacks from it. I love grain sacks and French towels and I think Tracey's style is one of the best around. So......... I bought the ladder.
I added some grain sacks and French towels and put it in my kitchen.
It fit perfectly in the eating area of my kitchen. It was made for my house.... I think.
Love this paint color
Thanks to Tracey for all the inspiration... hope you don't mind:))
And of course, I can't resist some flower pics. These tulips are from Trader Joe's and they are on my kitchen table .Tulips really are "Happy Flowers". I just wish they would last a wee bit longer.
Ok, I promise just one more flower pic. I have to say that I love the way my camera photographs flowers. My camera is honestly one of the best gifts I have ever received. I am really enjoying it. Most of the pics I  have taken so far are for the blog or my Etsy store. I can't wait to take it on a trip.
And.............
This past week I was super lucky and won TWO giveaways. Look what I got:
This fabulous pillow came from Kim at Bella Rustica. I says "Simplify" in Italian. Perfect for what I am trying to do this year.
All of these treasures came from Jessie at A Cozy Cottage In The City. Look what I did with the plates.
They are in my dining room. I flipped the one plate over. I like the back of it too.
What do you think?

Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend

A Home For The Shutter

Welcome~~

It is a rainy day  and actually I am serious, it IS raining here in So Cal. My little primroses already seem to be getting bigger and brighter. It is amazing the effect natural water has on the garden. LOVING THIS.
For all of you who have been reading my blog, you know that I found a fabulous chippy, white shutter a few weeks ago and I had no idea where it was going to go. It was one of those purchases that you buy and then find the space for it. It was just too fantastic to pass up. After much deliberating and moving it from here to there, it found a home.
It is now nestled in my living room.
I love the way it looks up against my creamy walls
I think it is the perfect compliment to my chippy, blue hutch. At first, I wasn't sure if it seemed too crowded, but the more I look at it each day, the more that I love it.
What do you think????
A close up

Welcome to all of my new followers and thanks to everyone for all of the sweet comments. I read them all and love it. I showed my son all the nice comments about his sock monkey that he made me:)

Valentine Flowers and Something Special

Happy Valentines Week~

I know that roses are the most common flower associated with Valentines Day, but I have to say that I think there is another flower that really represents the day. What flower you ask?????
The Camellia...........
They are red, pink, red and pink, white etc. Look how delicate all the petals are. Just exquisite. This one in the picture above  is red although it looks dark pink in this photo
Love the fluffy look of this one. The pink and white looks like candy.
And we have white too
They always start blooming just in time for Valentines Day. All if the camellias in this post are from my garden.
And of course, I had to cut some and bring them in the house. This little blue polka dot vase is getting a lot of use in my house this season.  Do you recognize it from other posts?
I apologize for so many photos of these flowers, but they are just so sweet and I LOVE them and they truly make me so very happy.

I hope you all have a wonderful week filled with lots of LOVE and HAPPINESS.

I have added Linky Followers to my sidebar. If you get a chance, please link up.

A Fresher Dining Room And More Changes To Come

Hi~
Well, it is a "rainy" day here in So Cal. I have my rain boots on, my umbrella ready to go and I was really hoping that we would get a good soaking so I would not have to turn on my sprinklers for a few days. Mmm.... the big storm, not so big:(   Just enough to dirty the car and make the roads slick with oil for all the fantastic So Cal rainy day drivers:)) If you live here, you know what I mean.
Tomorrow will be back in the 70's with no rain in the future (at least not in the next week).Back to short sleeves and flip flops. Oh well, it could be worse.
After the New Year , like many of you, I started to purge the house. One room I focused on was my dining room. I just had too much going on so I decided to SIMPLIFY.
This may seem like I still have a lot of things on the buffet, but I actually got rid of some things and replaced them with my French canning jars that I got from Dreamy Whites.  I love them there. They used to be on my dining room table, but I think this spot is so much better.
Heres a larger view of the area. That big transferware platter is one of my favorite pieces. I got it for such a steal because it has a slight crack running through it. What the seller saw as damaged, I saw as perfection.
I think I am going to paint the mirror white. Any thoughts? Advice please.......
This is one of the sconces that flank each side of the mirror. These are a work in progress. I am either going to paint them or change them out. I think they may be too big for the space. I have been looking  for some, but haven't been wooed by anything yet . What do you think?? Yes, I am taking advice today.
Here's the closeup. They are pretty, right???? Oh, the dilemma.
The dining room table is simple. I have used a grain sack as my runner, set out some French transferware plates and scattered some candles around. I love the look . I added the mirror to the center. There is such a nice reflection when the candles and the chandelier are lit.
One thing that I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE is the look of a candle that has drippy wax all over it. I know that it can be messy so I put a plate (usually a vintage saucer) underneath so it doesn't drip all over the table. I love the romantic feel it has.
This is a little corner of my dining room. I have had this piece of furniture forever. Isn't it sweet??? The inside is filled with vintage teacups and saucers.
Have I mentioned before that I love anything with blueberries?? Well, I do. This is a blueberry topiary and I love it. It originally was in a terra cotta looking pot, so I removed that and put it in this iron urn. Much better look.
The one big eyesore in my dining room is my china cabinet. I actually love the cabinet, but can't stand the wood. I have been meaning to do something about it forever, but have put it off so many times. I bought this cabinet about 15 years ago at a thrift store for $250.00. It is such great condition and provides excellent storage as well display space.
Here it is. I think it will look great painted, but it is a big job and I want to do it right.
I think the bones of this piece are so great and I love all the glass. I hope sooner than later I am able to blog about the big "REDO" Wish me luck, it may take awhile.
This is my dining room chandelier. This was my Grandma Marys and I was given this after she passed away. I painted it white and added the crystal bulb covers.

Storm update~~~~Still no rain and even some dry spots the ground:((

I have added Linky Followers onto my blog. I keep hearing that Google Friend Connect will be shutting down. So better to be safe than sorry, I added it. Please join up if you would like.

Enjoy the rest of the week
